JAZMINE SHERRINGTON

INTRODUCING JAZMINE

Jazmine’s love for motorsport first began when she was 6 weeks old, at Dijon in France watching her dad race Formula Vee. Ever since then she has been at a race track most weekends of her life.

When she was younger she focused mainly on netball, reaching county, junior academy and top club level standard so she didn’t have much time to race herself as this was taking up most of her time. However, when She turned 15 her family bought a Citron Saxo for James to race in the Junior Saloon Car Championship and after a couple of test days she decided that she wanted to start racing herself. She progressed quickly to compete in one of the JSCC rounds at Silverstone. She performed very well for her first race weekend, with her lap times being on par with the mid-pack, an impressive achievement!

Since then, Jazmine has competed in a number of Miata Trophy events and has completed a test day in a Renault Clio.

RACING HISTORY

In 2024, Jazmine entered a scholarship competition with Formula Woman to win a season in a Radical. In Round One, she came 2nd out of 80 competitors, after being assessed on driving, media skills, fitness and reaction times. In the second round, Jazmine was selected as one of the final 30 competitors and then reached the Top 15 Shootout Final. Even though she didn’t quite manage to win the main prize, following her performance in the Formula Women Scholarship, she was asked to consider entering the Formula Woman Nations Cup in Dubai in December 2024.

In 2025, Jazmine entered a number of rounds of the Miata Trophy including the incredibly challenging Silverstone GP Circuit.

NEXT STEPS

While Jazmine is only just starting out on her career in motorsport, she is already very clear on what path she wants to take. With an increasing number of options for women in motorsport, she decided to enter the MSVR Miata Trophy for the final round in November 2024 and despite very challenging wet conditions and a huge grid including ex-BTCC star Paul O’Neill she managed to place in the mid-field an took the top female competitor spot.

FUTURE PLANS

In the future Jazmine aims to build her career in the MSVR Miata Trophy before moving on to higher classes of racing in either single seaters or GT racing.

We invite you to be a part of Jazmine’s journey and to help her establish herself at the leading edge the ever-growing women’s motorsport industry.

JAZMINE SHERRINGTON:
BEHIND THE VISOR

  1. What inspired you to get into racing? Was it a particular race, moment, or person that sparked your passion?

I was first at a race track when I was only a couple weeks old, and I have been at one almost every weekend ever since with my Dad racing, and then my brother. I always love being at track, and until the past 2 years I  had only ever watched, but I decided to try myself and really enjoyed it.

  1. How would you describe your driving style? Are you more strategic and cautious, or aggressive and instinctive?

Strategic and cautious

  1. What’s been the biggest challenge in your racing journey so far, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge so far would be converting from junior to senior racing, as the racing is a lot of full on and close. During my first senior race weekend I managed to overcome it by telling myself not to give up as I had done well in testing and knew I had the pace.

  1. As you are both siblings involved in racing, do you feel a sense of rivalry, or is it more of a support system between you? How does it impact your racing careers?

I think as James and I are both in different stages of our careers it is a support system, and we are always proud of each other’s achievements and help one another in times when we are struggling.

  1. When you’re not at the track or training, how do you spend your downtime?

I play a lot of netball to an academy level, and I also do a lot of music as I am grade 8 singing and can play the piano. I also hang out with my friends or go watch sports.

  1. What’s one goal or milestone you hope to achieve in the next year?

I hope to complete a full season of racing and be competitive within the championship.

  1. If you could race against any driver, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would like to race against my Dad is he is the main reason I began motorsport, and I have always seen him be successful in it.

  1. How do you stay focused and calm under the intense pressure of racing? Any tricks or habits you swear by?

I usually just focus on my breathing or listen to music.

  1. If each of you could be remembered for one thing in the racing world, what would you want it to be?

A role model for girls to inspire them to participate in motorsport.

  1. What do you think is the most exciting thing about motorsport right now, and what role do you want to play in its future?

I think the amount of recognition and spectators all different types of racing is getting and not just Formula 1, I would like to ensure this keeps growing and make it a sport which is more commonly known for all the different types of motorsport and not just F1.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time? In 10 years’ time?

In 5 years’ time I would like to have a career in the motorsport industry and be aiming to race in a championship similar or the BTCC or in single seaters in F1 Academy.

  1. What is your dream (road) car and why?

BAC Mono as it is really unique and looks cool!

  1. Any advice for other aspiring young drivers?

Take any opportunity you get and don’t give up.
