VERTU Mini Challenge Race Report – Race 2

May 12, 2025

For round 2 in the Mini Challenge, I headed to Brands Hatch on the BTCC weekend aiming to build on the strengths of Snetterton. However, both me and the team were met with a tricky weekend both on and off the track.

The practice day proved to be slightly tricky due to some suspension issues, holding me back to 10th and 6th in practice. This went from bad to worse in qualifying with a mistake on my side causing me to lose my fastest lap of the session, and with 0.1 seconds separating 8 cars inside the top 10 this was costly, ending my session 16th, far below the expectation both the team and I had set.

Race 1: Coming from 16th I had my work cut out; however, a very strong drive saw me move up to 8th and in the mix once again for the Sunday. As well as claiming both championship leads

Race 2:  Starting 8th from my progress in Race 1, another very strong drive led to me forcing myself back where the team and I belong, back into the top 5, but a common theme is beginning to emerge with the second race of the weekend. I was taken out under yellow flags which caused a severe power issue, thankfully it was the last lap so I only dropped back to 6th, but a result which should have been a podium was unfortunately denied.

Race 3: The less said the better, unfortunately the power issue wasn’t solved so it was simply a case of points collecting and finishing and that is what I did.

Onwards to round 3 at Thruxton.
